The Knot

KnotAnim
The Knot Hotel was built in 1911, though if the caption on the first picture, a postcard, is correct it was originally just called "The New Hotel".

The Knot closed recently, seemingly for good, as there is a new pub a few doors up the road. I expect the building will remain in a different guise, and the new pub's name, The Thomas Telford, contains a bit of Ellesmere Port history. Telford built the canal that provided a link from Ellesmere in Shropshire to the sea, and Ellesmere Port was created as a result.
