The first building on the right of the road in the first photo is the old Post Office, now sadly demolished, along with almost all the buildings on that side of the road. It sat on the corner of Station Road and Carnegie Street (also gone, replaced with a car park).
Opposite the Post Office, on the other Station Road/Carnegie Street corner is the Carnegie Free Library, the one building to survive on that side of Station Road until the other side of Meadow Lane..
