Despite being quite some distance from the village of Eastham, the parish of Eastham was huge, and covered most of what is now Ellesmere Port, before there even was an Ellesmere Port. There was an earlier church here, built in 1846, but was soon too small so, in 1868, work began on this one.
It was only in the parish of Eastham for a little while though. It was consecrated on the 16th of May 1871, and the Ecclesiastical Parish of Ellesmere Port had been formed on the 23rd of March of that year.
Though the surroundings have changed a lot over the years, the building itself is almost unchanged, with just a small extension to the nave in the 1920s. The duck pond has been filled in, and is now part of a graveyard that holds 26 war graves. There is still a war memorial just outside of the graveyard.

The church was declared redundant in 1994, but was bought by the Oasis Christian Centre in 2010 and reopened, in March of 2011,as an Elim Pentecostal Church.
